DescriptionDanaparoid is a heparinoid substitute that is used in patients that have Heparin Induced Thrombocytopaenia.

Additional InfoDanaparoid active components consist of heparin sulphate, dermatan sulphate, and chondroitin sulphate. Danaparoid differs from other low molecular weight heparins is that Danaparoid is devoid of heparin or heparin fragments. Similarly to LMWH's, it exerts its antithrombotic effect principally through anti-thrombin mediated inhibition of factor Xa, and to a much lesser extent, thrombin.
