DescriptionGut hormone. May be requested as part of gut hormone profile (gastrin, glucagon, pancreatic polypeptide, somatostatin, VIP).
IndicationIn diabetic patients with characteristic skin rash (necrolytic migratory erythema). This rash is a sign of a glucagonoma. Other symptoms of glucagonoma: mild diabetes, weight loss and hypoaminoacidaemia. Can also be used to diagnose glucagon deficiency in hypoglycaemia patients.
