DescriptionA sensitive inhibitor screen designed to detect the presence of FVIII & FIX inhibitors in the treatment of haemophilia patients
IndicationAll treated haemophilia A & B patients should undergo inhibitor screening.
Additional InfoThis method can be adapted to screen for other coagulation factors. If this screen is positive, then a Bethesda inhibitor assay should be run.
Concurrent TestsFVIII or FIX assays
Dietary RequirementsNone
InterpretationNo inhibitor detected if the difference between the patients and control plasmas is less than 12 seconds. A result between 12 and 20 seconds may be equivocal depending upon clinical history. Reported as positive or negative.
