DescriptionIn many tissues plasmalogens are minor constituents, but in heart tissue nearly 50% of phosphatidylcholine may be in this form. Nervous tissues, testes and kidneys also contain significant amounts of plasmalogens.
IndicationFor the investigation and diagnosis of peroxisomal biogenesis defects (Zellweger's spectrum disorders) and Rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata (decreased plasmalogens).
