|Description||EBV frequently affects the CNS yet most patients show no symptoms. CSF pleocytosis occurs in approximately 25% of patients with infectious mononucleosis. EBV was responsible for 2-5% of cases of encephalitis and 8% of cases with focal encephalitis. It is more difficult to quantify the proportion of EBV infection amongst patients with aseptic meningitis. |
|Collection Conditions||Please send a separate sample for viral CSF studies to the laboratory.
