Search Links: General Info : Protocols : LabTestsOnline

DescriptionA variety of blood culture bottle types are available including special bottles for paediatric patients and AAFB culture. Adult bottles come as a set of 2 ( 1 aerobic and 1 anaerobic) with an optimum fill of 10ml. These bottles allow for the isolation of most bacteria and some fungi. The new plastic style bottles may, with care, be sent to the laboratory by air tube. Glass bottles such as those for AAFB culture must be hand delivered to the laboratory.
