DescriptionBeta-2 microglobulin (B2M) is a transmembrane protein found on all cells that carry HLA antigens. Free B2M is a product of cell breakdown. After filtration through the glomeruli B2M is reabsorbed and catabolized by the proximal tubular cells.
IndicationIn Multiple Myeloma B2M is a prognostic marker and is used to monitor disease activity.
