DescriptionSerological markers for viral activity such as hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) and hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) are useful for diagnosis, but HBsAg negative and hepatitis e antigen-negative cases have recently been identified. The concentration of HBV particles in plasma is a better indicator of viral replication. It correlates with the potential infectiousness of virus carriers and the infectivities of blood products
Indication Quantification of the concentration of HBV particles in plasma. Indicator of viral replication. Significant for initiation and monitoring of interferon therapy.
