|Description||Quantitation of the concentration of itraconazole in serum.|
|Indication||Confirmation of adequate levels and alerting to toxic levels in patients receiving itraconazole for treatment or prophylaxis of fungal disease.
Patient on itraconazole for at least 7 days.|
|Additional Info||Antifungal agents are assayed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy (LC-MS-MS). The results are highly specific and are not influenced by the use of antifungal combination therapy.|
|Interpretation||Patients with serum trough levels <0.5mg/L may need dose adjustments or clinicians should look for medications which may be affecting levels. Levels of >4mg/L are potentially toxic.|
