DescriptionQuantitation of the concentration of itraconazole in serum.
IndicationConfirmation of adequate levels and alerting to toxic levels in patients receiving itraconazole for treatment or prophylaxis of fungal disease. Patient on itraconazole for at least 7 days.
Additional InfoAntifungal agents are assayed by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy (LC-MS-MS). The results are highly specific and are not influenced by the use of antifungal combination therapy.

InterpretationPatients with serum trough levels <0.5mg/L may need dose adjustments or clinicians should look for medications which may be affecting levels. Levels of >4mg/L are potentially toxic.
