|Description||Serology for amoebiasis is useful for extracolonic manifestions of infections with Entamoeba histolytica such amoebic hepatic abscesses. In rare cases amoebic colitis can mimic ulcerative colitis and it might be advisable to rule out amoebic dysentry particularly when the patient travelled abroad.
