DescriptionA test of adrenal function which uses synthetic ACTH to dynamically stimulate cortisol production.
IndicationInvestigation of adrenocorticol function.
Additional InfoAn abnormal response may be due to either primary or secondary adrenal failure. The test can be done at any time of the day but ideally in the morning due to the diurnal variation in cortisol. ACTH, pituitary function tests and clinical findings may help in the diagnosis.
