IndicationGenotyping helpful when phenotyping is difficult to interpret due to post-translational modification of Apo E molecules.
Additional InfoAn Apo-E 2:2 genotype is used to diagnose type III hyperlipidaemia. This is usually suggested by a mixed hyperlipidaemia often with a history of eruptive xanthomata. E4 risk factor in Alzheimer's.
