DescriptionThere are four IgG subclasses the levels of which vary with age. In particular IgG2 and IgG4 may not reach adult levels until the age of ten.
IndicationAbnormal IgG subclasses are not sufficient for the diagnosis of antibody deficiency however can be in rare instances a useful adjunct in the investigation of suspected cases.
Additional InfoAll requests for IgG subclasses will be tested for IgG1, 2, 3 and 4 plus total IgG, IgA and IgM.
