Description Ethyl glucuronide and ethyl sulphate are sensitive markers of ethanol ingestion. They remain detectable in urine for up to 3 days after alcohol has been consumed.
Indication Only available to the liver transplant team for service evaluation purposes.
Additional Info Sample must be frozen on date of collection to maintain sample integrity. Send to lab immediately.

Interpretation A positive result is highly suggestive of ethanol ingestion. False positive results may occur where yeast, glucose and bacteria contaminate the urine and the sample is stored incorrectly. False negatives may occur when bacteria contaminate the urine and the sample is stored incorrectly.
