Description Apolipoprotein A1 is the major protein component of HDL in plasma.
Indication This analysis is usually only available for the lipid clinic.
Additional Info ApoA1 promotes cholesterol efflux from tissues to the liver for excretion, and is a co-factor for LCAT. Abnormal expression is associated with HDL deficiencies e.g. Tangier's and ApoA1 is often used as a biomarker for prediction of cardiovascular disease.
