Description The QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus (QFT-Plus) assay is an in vitro diagnostic test using a peptide cocktail simulating ESAT-6 and CFP-10 proteins to stimulate cells in heparinized whole blood. Detection of interferon-? by ELISA is used to identify in vitro responses to those peptide antigens that are associated with Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection.
Indication This test can be used to diagnose active tuberculosis and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI).
Additional Info Blood is collected into Lithium Heparin tubes and transported to the laboratory for transfer into the QuantiFERON TB Gold Plus system. Samples must arrive in the laboratory by 7pm on the day of collection. This service is available for GPs only. Please contact Deborah Gascoyne-Binzi on 0113 392 3929 if further information is required.
