DescriptionAmino acids are small molecules which contain an amine group, a carboxylic acid group and side chain which differs in composition bewteen different amino acids. They are molecules that play critical roles in intracellular metabolism and are the building blocks for proteins. Plasma amino acids are analysed predominantly for diagnosis and monitoring of inborn errors of amino acid metabolism.
