The laboratory facility is located in the Old Medical School (OMS) at Leeds General Infirmary.

All microbiologists assist in the interpretation of laboratory results and give advice on specimen collection for infectious conditions and patient therapy. The latter might be based on culture results (definitive treatment) or on clinical suspicion (empirical therapy). We also offer to review patients with infections at the bedside.

Infection Control

Infection Control is an integral part of our daily work. The Infection Control teams at LTHT will be able to assist you with any queries regarding hospital hygiene. Any queries can be directed to the Infection Control Team at any time. Out of hours and on weekends the duty medical microbiologist provides Infection Control advice. Please contact the on-call medical microbiologist through the respective switchboard. In addition, for enquiries from LTHT, you can also visit the Infection Prevention Control Website for more information
